Lesser-Known Space Projects of Türkiye — Three Companies Already Shaping Their Own LEO Constellations in Orbit
Recently, against the backdrop of well-known LEO projects such as SpaceX/Starlink, Eutelsat/OneWeb, Amazon/Kuiper and others, we more often speak about China’s LEO constellations than about other countries. Yet among them there are in fact rather interesting and little-known projects. Few have heard of Türkiye’s LEO ambitions. That is why today we should give them our attention.
When the national space regulator BTK (Bilgi Teknolojileri ve Iletişim Kurumu) issues its first license, the industry receives a significant boost. This is exactly what happened in Türkiye: in September 2025 BTK authorized satellite IoT services in low Earth orbit for the Connecta network of Plan-S. The event may seem purely bureaucratic, but for the local space industry it marks a boundary: from “startups in orbit” to an operator officially responsible for providing services in the country.
